ASEBALL SQUA Spring was slow getting here in 1957 but when it finally arrived South Fremont athletes were ready for the spring sports. Coach Ben Jordan turned his efforts toward track. The squad participated in the Ricks College invitational and the District Six Meet. Eight boys earned track letters. Coaches Mecham and Harding began daily workouts with the haseball team. The team lacked depth hut had a strong starting lineup. The team served notice that they had their sights set on the District championship hy winning over the North Fremont Huskies 4-3. Sugar and Madison put a temporary damper on the Cougars hopes hy winning 5 -4 and 6 - 3 hut subsequent wins over Teton. North Fremont. Madi- son. and Sugar City brought South Fremont to the championship game with Idaho Falls. The issue was in doubt until the last man was out in the final inning. The Cougars finished on top 5--4 to win the game. the District Championship and another trophy. 67
