CL 58 HISTORY As our high school years end we cherish the memories of the days gone by Glancing bad: ro the fall of 50 we remember ourselves as lowly freshmen with such a large enrollment that we were divided into two classes Our sponsors were Miss Bessie Lou Wood and Mr Robert Barbour During the year we lost Barbara Boner but gained Desiree Leatherman Taylor Helen Burrows and Edna Segreaves yomed us only to leave before the year ended The year was rough but with a wonderful Christmas party and other activities we passed through with smiles Sophomores' Another step we had climbed Again we were divided into two classes with Mr and Mrs Gene Greene as our sponsors This year we gained Bob Mock but lost Velda Chappell Ravon Poplin and James Beshears The year ended perfectly with a trip to Raleigh and Durham Nothing was more wonderful than our Junior year With Mrs Elizabeth Greene as our sponsor our class play Finders Creepers and the junior Senior Banquet were both successful We were sorry to lose D T Smith jr Agnew Tedder David Alexander Bobby Hayes Carolyn Billings Eugene Wagoner and Bobby Faircloth but we welcomed two new students Harry Burns and Barbara McClellan No one was ever more proud of anything than we were of our class rings which we received in February Finally we reached the top. We were seniors and were we happy! We welcomed Gene Edwards who came ro us from Madison and Joe Taylor from Yadkinville. Barbara McClellan Harry Burns and Maxine Anders left us. Leading us in our final year was Mrs. Eloise Curlee. We all worked hard to publish the best Annual ever and to give an enjoyable play. We were delighned to be honored at the banquet and it was far above our expectations. Our childish ways on kids day only made us realize that our school days were practically over. The Class Day Exercises and the Baccalaureate Sermon will be cherished memories forever. The night we received our diplomas we felt in a world of our own. We were no longer students nor were we employed in the business world. It was the ending and yet the beginning and we were confused. But let us forget the past for the future lies ahead of us. -Jo Ann Woosley Historian 16
