MESSAGES SUPERINTENDENTS MESSAGE In the era of Sputnik and inter-continental ballistic mis- siles the Senior Class of 1957-1958 takes its first brave step in- toaworld literally bursting with its new found powers, A world that is on the threshold of the greatest civilization known to man - or on the brink of the greatest catastrophe that can be- fall mang and it may well be that you, the young men and women of today must eventually make the important decisions as to whether we shall see greatness or disaster. This is an awesome task but one I know that you will not fail. One phase of your life is over, another just beginning, You have succeeded well in your work so far, you will not fail in the days yet to come, My heartiest congratulations upon your graduation from high school and sincerest best wishes for a most satisfying and rewarding life. Mr. Sam Miller, District Superintendent Southern Humboldt Unified Schools PRINGIPAUS MESSAGE The annual commencement exercises bring to close another eventful year in the history ofSouth Fork High School. Eventful within the school and extremely eventful in our nation and the world at large. The era of the atom and the birth of space exploration has had a growing impact on our society. The peaceful use of our new wonders of science can open new vistas of living and enjoyment to every individual. We must guard, through active practice of citizenship, uses of this power other than peaceful. In our school experiences this has been an outstanding year in many ways. We have had increased student participation in all of our activities, Student conduct and behavior has reached a level of which we can all be proud, We have self-analyzed our entire program through the accreditation process and found ourselves to be a good school, We have tried our best in all that we have done. We can well be proud of our students, faculty and school, With the same effort and spirit shown this year, each succeeding year will become better than the one past, keeping in mind that what we are to be, we are now becoming. 3 7 'fs-1 .4l Mr, R.
