BUSINESS EDUCATION The IBM Boom To keep up with the increasing use ot IBM equipment, a one-semester course in Data Processing vvas initiated this year. Admittonce depended upon a satisfactory score on a special aptitude test, and reasonable typing skill. Regular business education classes vvere also oftered under the direction ot George Petersen, de- partment head Nine students participated in the Business lndustry Seminar held April 23 in Portland. Guest speaker tor the event was Tom McCall, secretary ot state and candidate for governor, who discussed the present and tuture development ot the region s important corpora- tions. Delegates to the National Distributive Education Club ot America conterence in Chicago held April 27-30 vvere Jim Halford, Carolyn Peterson and Debi virtue. With the cooperation of local business tirms, Distributive Education students attended classes in the morning and worked in the afternoons tor academic credit, supervised by Mrs, Alice Bornhart.
