FRENCH CLUB members vvere given an opportunity this year to explore French culture and to gain more experience in speaking that language. Under the direction of Advisers Sue Bach and Betty Kaspar and President Mike Watkins the club engaged in several activities. The initiation ceremony, which included a number of pantomtmes and games, vvas characteristic of the informal atmosphere at regular monthly meetings. Other activities included the annual Christmas party vvith German and Spanish clubs. a club breakfast, and a lecture on France by Norman Johnson of the University of Oregon. SPANISH CLUB centered its activities around a better understanding of the language and peoples of Spanish-speaking nations. Rangel Guerrera, a visiting speaker from Mexico, gave students a personal idea ofthe people and customs of Mexico. Members also vvrote letters to teenagers of Spanish speaking countries, vvere hosts to a Cuban refugee family, and sang Spanish carols to Eugene residents at Christmas.
