ROW 4 - Randy Fennell. l September 9, 1958 - 8:10 a.m. It is the first day of school and the Sophomores begin to arrive. 8:11 a.m. Their knees are shaking and their faces show a slight look of dismay CGREEND. 8:12 a.m. They can be found wandering down the mysterious halls of the school. W 8:13 a.m. The Sophomores are now trying to open their lockers without success. 8:14 a.m. They are being bumped into or pushed around by the Big Seniors. 8:15 a.m. The final bell rings and there is a scramble of Sophomores try- ing to find their classes with some ending up in such places as the lunchroom, the office, or in T-10. All during the first few weeks of school, the class of 161 wandered around looking lost and wishing they could be back in junior High, where they had been at home for three years. But, as time went on, they begin to learn their way around, and to under- stand the rules and regulations of the school. Their class officers are Jim Brooke, Pres. 5 jim Mooney, Vice Pres. 3 Marianne Wilson, Sec.-Treas., and jim Garber, Class manager. Under the watchful eyes of Mrs. Dodge and Mr. Wickham, the Sophomore Glass Advisors, the class of '61 continued to do bigger and better things. In a traditional ceremony of the school, the EH was given a new coat of paint by six of the Uprivilegedl' Sophomore boys. Working on the class Courtyard was one of the major projects of this class. The selling of Class Rings was another project that was very successful. The students of the class of '61 also sold concessions at many of the school functions. These accomplishments of the Sophomore Glass reveal a resolute spirit in mind, hand, and heart which promises to carry them on to an even more successful junior year at South Eugene High School. 88
