September 9, 1958 - 8:10 a.m. It is the first day of school and the Juniors begin to arrive for their second big year at SEHS. 8:11 a.m. First, they begin to look for their lockers, hoping that they will end up on Senior Row. 8:12 a.m. Now they begin looking anxiously through the maze for friends of year before. 8:13 a.m. Success at last! They Hnd their friends, compare schedules, and the girls compare hair-dos. 8 : 14 a.m. They dash madly for their classes. Will they make it or not? 8:15 a.m. The final bell rings and most Juniors are in their seats be- cause of discipline of the year before, but there are some stragglers. The Juniors got off to a good start and they went to work almost immediately. In the spring of their Sophomore year, they elected their class officers. Barry Rubenstein, President, Terry Tillman, Vice President, Dottie Branaman, Secretary, and Barbara Coster, were elected. Under the guidance of the class ad- visors, Miss Virginia West and Mr. Lyle Small, the officers made their year very successful. The class started out their in-between-year by earning the title of Volunteers This was accomplished when they helped out at concessions during games and volunteering for special committees. The first big project of the year was the Harvest Hop, which boosted the treasury considerably. The Junior Class now began its long, but enjoyable task of preparing for the Junior-Senior Prom. Here again, as in previous activities, the i'Volunteers,' were called upon to work on various committees to make this Prom an even greater success than in years before. All of these accomplishments of the Junior Class will make this a memorable year in the history of South Eugene High School. 75
