Many newcomers and several seasoned veterans greeted our new track coach, Don Barnhart, For the first time, the cindermen can prac- tice and hold track meets on their own track. Among the outstanding members of this year's team are Captain Larry Senn, Jack Calvin, Tom Bryant, Kit Miller and Cece Linder. When this story went to press, the team had won its first meet. This meet was with K. Falls and Springfield. iThe Axemen won it by 30 points.l Before the track sea- son is over, the team should win many more track meets, for they certainly have the potential. O'Connell tries to catch Burleson of Cottage Grove.

TP team lost several matches by very sma margins. They lost to Springfield by th score of Z5 to 26, and lost to Rosebur by the same score. The contests wer not all losses, however. They defeate North Bend 26 to l6, and Willamett 47 to 9. Eugene entered five people i the state tournament, but the only on to place was Tom Bryant, who took fourtl in his weight class. This year's team ha. many sensational wrestlers. Some of th notobles were Tom Bryant, Dan lGrunt Guthrie, Larry Baxter and Bruce Glenn Bryant won i3 and lost l, and Guthrii won lO, lost l, and tied l. Wrestling, now a major sport, is at tracting more boys and interest thar ever before, due to the excellent coach ing of Mr. Williams.
