Although not a well known sport, cross country at SEHS is gaining in popularity. The cross country team, coached by Hank Kuchera, won six out of eight meets this year. Eugene ls Off to a Good Start The Axemen, showing their po- tential, ran over Franklin 6l-32. In the first quarter, the game was very close, but once rolling, the Axemen broadened their lead, The first half not only showed how the team could work together, it also showed everyone that Charlie War- ren was going to start where he left off last season. Charlie scored 24 points in the first half. ln the sec- ond half Kuch pulled out all of his starters and played the rest of the team. Even though the whole team looked good, there were a few stars. Besides Warren, who scored 3l points, Johnny Polhemus, Tom Jones and Neil Goldschmidt looked great. The Secret Weapon wasn't put in until the last psychological moment of the fourth quarter.
