Principal Robert S. Brandel Happiness is defined as a feeling of con- tentment coming from being or doing well or of satisfaction at having got what one wanted. This definition leaves much to be explained. What are the things that give us satisfaction? Do you get satisfac- tion from helping or hurting others? Do your wants include the material no mat- ter how they are obtained? Fortunately, happiness is all around us. The smile of a friend, the acceptance by our fellows, 10 the warmth of our family associations, the inspiration of our religious beliefs, the satisfaction of a job well done or the opportunity to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate than ourselves are just a few of the measures of true happi- ness. There are those, particularly the young, who believe that things create happiness. As we grow older, we see that physical possessions contribute relatively little to a really happy personality.

Miss Estelle R. Stone In a teaching career, happiness is-the re- warding experience of helping youth to cherish the eternal truths, to appreciate past culture, to understand present social change, and to explore the ever-expanding future frontiers of knowledge. Indeed, taking gen- uine interest in pupils, guiding them in solv- ing their problems, sharing their joys of a- chievement, and challenging them to their greatest accomplishments, all echo merrily through the corridors of teacher memories. Vice-Principal Mr. Phill T. May Teachers, themselves, enjoy a unique combi- nation of work and pleasure through vaca- tion travel, graduate study, professional committees, and everyday dynamic alertness to educational growth. Certainly theirs is the great responsibility to radiate by enthu- siasm and fine example, cheerfulness of spirit in loyal service to our neighbors, to our country, and to God. Miss Estelle R. Stone Assistant Principal
