Shoulder to shoulder, y that traditional feeling of unity among the teachers and students at South, is exemplified in every hall and in every classroom. The cry of Shoulder to Shoulder is echoed by every teacher and by every student. We, the students of this school, are not alone in our home-front battle for victory, for side by side with us is the faculty of South Division. Friend Percy, ,our visitor from England, finds them working in defense factories to alleviate the man-power shortage, fighting on the war fronts for us and this land of liberty, and doing Red Cross work in school as well as out. He hears them laud us in our successes and console us in our failures. Indeed, he finds thema busy people. Awarding them the proverbial apple, he bids them Chin up, cheerio, and carry on! The faculty are the great leaders on this home front, the too often unlauded backers of freedom. While we are still in school, they show us the path to good fortune and keep us traveling on it. Their hopes and prayers will follow us after we leave the shelter of their guidance. To them the class of 1944 wishes Godspeed. Throughout our. lives we will remember that they are standing with us, Shoulder to Shoulder .
