FOREWORD Vacation days vvere over. Sun-tanned and hilarious, tvventy-three hundred students trooped pacl4 to the lamiliar corridors ol their school home. lnside, the atmosphere vvas charged with curiosity and excitement. Asseml3lyA vvas tense. Students and laculty impatiently awaited the arrival ol the new captain vvho vvas to tal4e command ol South Division. When at length he appeared on the bridge, the suspense vvas immediately lilted, lor his genial smile and dignified manner radiated assurance. Words ol understanding and co-operation lell from his lips. ln his very modesty there vvas strength. A delighted audience watched him place a steady hand upon the vvheel to launch the S. S. South Division and its hearty crevv on the round ol school activities. Although changing slcippers is ditticult, officers and passen- gers made navigation easy by their unquestioned loyalty to the nevv captain. With the aid ol charts, compass, and lreciuent Soundings as to customary routine, he piloted his ship vvith marl4ed success through the long months ol the school year. l-lis maiden voyage vvas calm and untrouhled. . As the S. S. South Division continues to sail its course, it is the earnest hope ol all that the leadership ol this same trusty seaman may ever inspire his passengers to exemplary citizenship.
