Music occupied much ol his lime, 'For he played lhe lrombone in +he band and was l'he accom- panisl lor lhe Boys' Glee club. l-lis principal hobby oulside of school was slamp collecling. Belly Budd Feurig, a junior, was awarded lhe gold pin in lhe Cenlury declamalory conlesl. She was inleresled in music, as well as in dramalics, and played in The band and in 'rhe orcheslra. Journalism proved +o be an- o+her of her inleresls, for she was recenlly laken on The Cardinal weekly siall. l-ler enlhusiasm for lhis kind of work was closely allied wilh her desire lo become a leacher of English. l-loward Schulz, an up-and-coming lirsl semesler senior, received 'The Alumni English book. l-le served The Cardinal weekly as a slar reporler and as a headline wriler. Aclive in Cenlury Lilerary sociely and Science club, l-loward was also a member of The orcheslra and played on l'he golf squad. l-lis versalilily also carried him inlo 'rhe lighlr opera. Russell, whose hobby is wriTing music, has second chair in The violin secTion OT The school orchesTra. Donald l-lomuTh, who Tied wiTh Doris SmiTh Tor second honors in June, was The winner oT The Civic Music medal. l-le aTTribuTecl his high scholasTic average To inTensive sTudy. AlThough Donald had TirsT chair in cellos in The SouTh Division orchesTra, he Tound Time To be presidenT OT Science club and Treasurer oT LaTin club. l-le has mapped ouT a musical career Tor himself.
