HAMILTON 1980 QUEEN South's first homecoming in the eighties was played against the Brown County Eagles. The game was very fast paced at the start, with the Eagles scoring in just over two minutes. Then Tony Arnett received the kickoff at the Cougar 25 yard line. Greg Cramer booted the ball for the extra point. The Cou- gars led 7-6! The Cougars led at the half 14-6. After a few bad breaks the Eagles won 24-14. At halftime, there were floats, class representa- tives, and the queen candidates and their escorts. The crowd anxiously waited for the crowning. “And the winner is, said Rita Hitchell, “Carol Hamilton. J.R. Stuart crowned Carol and made her the official 1980 Homecoming Queen. 1. South’s first Homecoming queen of the eighties, Carol Hamilton. 2. J.R. Stuart crowns Carol while Jeff McIntyre watches happily. 3. Dale Louden congratulates Carol. 4. Other members of the court con- gratulate a surprised Carol. 5. Carol poses for a picture. 8

Homecoming 1980 was on a cold night, but the band, the team, and the classes all came out. Most im- portantly, the fans came to support the Courgars. During the float competition, the class of '82 took first prize with “Cougars Looking Good.” 10
