Eight school records were broken and another tied during the course of the season. Dale Patterson was thelone senior, and his injury in the conference meet prob ably denied the Miners the championship. Dale leaves the school with no less than six school records in his name. The standouts and record holders that lead Tech to a close finish in the conference meet and a second place finish in the Southern lnvitational were: Chuck Wait, Monte Evans, Gary Trohkimoinen, Lindell Sunde, Erv Anderson, Dale Patterson, Kip Dopp, Don Stroh, Gary Hanten, Kerry Belden, Buck Wood- ward and Doug Schlepp. ' There were three conference individual champions: Monte Evens, l4':21l mile, Doug Schlepp, l44'1W'l triple jump, and Gary Trohkimominen, l9:43.5l steeplechase. Gary also set a new All Time South Dakota Colligeate Mark with 9:31.8 steeplechase time at Springfield.

Tennis Team- Shares S.D.I.C. Tech's '72 tennis team ipiled up early points in the SDIC Tennis Tournament held in Rapid City and tied Dakota State of lVl'adison with 28 points for the conference crown. Bob Gray was defeated in the finals, a'nd Tech's doubles team of Al Jones and Bill Hyde also were beaten in the finals both losses coming at itheihands of Dakota State opl ponents. The team under theiclirection of Coach Ekeland also. proved themselves during a strongidual match schedule.
