I l l l l l l , i A i , A Y Y 1 The South Dakota Tech Cross Country Team did what in the words of many SDIC coaches vvas the impossible. The team on a sultry day in Springfield captured their third consecutive championship. The team was led by sophomore Monte Evans, vvho captured individual honors. Others vvho contributed to a total team victory were Lindell Sunde, Bruce Sabacky, Gary Trohkimoinen, Steve Jantz, Greg Daniels, and Ed Jackson.

l l The season opened with Tech fielding a young team with only one senior. Yet, in this opening game a pattern was to be set, Tech would be a winner. Their 96-64 conquest of Dickinson State would be replayed against other teams on other days but the outcome would he similar. ln eighteen of their twenty-seven games the Tech team would score over ninety points, and ten of these times they would garner more than one hundred. The end of the season would find the team sitting at the top ot the league---The Champions That They Predicted They Could Be. The Tech Scor- ing llllachine was to meet its match though, facing a fired Yankton College team in the District playoffs the l-lardroclaers staged a valiant last quarter rally only to be snulobed 97-95.
