Membership is open to all students enrolled in the undergraduate and graduate programs of civil engineering. Prof. Tom Pro son is the faculty advisor. pMeetings are held monthly to promote the professional development and irlvolvemenl of all members. Mem- bers may also hold individual membership in the student olganization. Meeting jointly with the Chemistry Depart- nient Seminar. The A.C.S. chapter presents movies, plofessional lectures, and participates in various field trlyips. Society Of Physics Students The Society of Physics Students is a physics society explicitly designed for students. Membership is open to anyone interested in physics. Within the SPS there exists a nationally recognized honor society, Sigma Pi Sigma, to which students are elected on the basis of outstanding academic achievement. SPS also operates within the American Institute of Physics QAIPQ. The society was formed on April 22, 1968 from the union of the AIP Student Section and Sigma Pi Sigma. Chapter activities usually consist of speakers and films covering a wide variety of topics. Field trips are attempted whenever y possible. This year a tour was made of the neutrino experiment at the bottom of the Homestake Gold Mine, ll and representatives attended the Zone IX SPS Convention in Omaha, Nebraska.
