K Lg. 104 The tcam's chances looked dim lor the sea- son when only lorty-two players reported for practiee in August, but these same forty-two men accomplished something Tech had not been able to do in nineteen years. On Halloween afternoon the Hardrockers out-played a highly rated and undefeated Northern team to carve lor themselves a share ol the SDIC champion- ship. Other victories, though not as dramatic, which led to the title included the M-Day win over Southern State and two lourth quarter victories over Dakota State and Dakota Wes- leyan. These wins combined with the narrow win over a young Huron team gave Tech the live victories needed to share the title, despite the loss to Black Hills. In non-conference games Tech never managed a win, though the first two losses were bitterly contested. both being lost in the linal minute Colorado when the two point conversion lor the go-ahead point failed and Rocky Mountain who scored a last minute touch- down. Tech players were: Front row: Kirk Beck, Chuck Wait, Cheapshot Daley, Judas Berg, Gary Hanten, Lynn Tjeerdsma, Mike Magbuhat, Don Litner, Rob Wheeler. Dave l-ledges, Clyde Bar- tel. Scott Maline. Bill Woodward. Second row: Tom Anderson, Joe Jagonsinski, Brad Wheeler, Wayne Davey, Kerry Belden, Karl Gerdes, Leo Van Sambeek, Gary Bertniek, John Aden, Ca- sino Garland, Craig Thorstad. Harpo Biekett, Ray Potts. Third Row: Todd Tiahrt, Chuckie Foldenauer. Brad Goldstein, Rich Dyer, Russ Sievert, Stork Nelsen. Tuna Ditlev, Pat AMC- Mahon, Lee Anderson, Les Fraley, Gary Eshen- baum.
