136 SIGMA TAU Sigma Tau is an honorary engineering fraternity organized to recognize scholastic and professional attainment. Its members are selected from the upper one third of the junior and senior classes on the basis of scholarship, practicality and sociahility. It is the aim of the fraternity to recognize outstanding student engineers and to promote projects which will advance the best interests of engineering education. Sigma Tau sponsors an annual Freshman award of 525.00 which is presented to a member of the sophomore class who best typiiies the precepts of Sigma Tau during his freshman year. Sigma Tau also gives recognition to the highest ranking member of each class. Sigma Tau also held for the first time review sessions for the E.I.T. examination. Dr. R. L. NEWMAN CL UB The Newman Forum is a new addition to the School of Mines. The purpose and goal is to foster Christian fellowship among students. Activities of the year include Folk Mass every Sunday night in Sur- beck, caroling at St. Iohn's Hospital, chili suppers, 'fri' a retreat for students in April, and many other activ- ities.
