French Club The purpose of the French Club is to gain knowledge of the French language, history, characteristics and customs. Com- paring traditions similar to those of our country, the club cultivates a deeper understanding of the differences and simi- larities of the two countries and their peoples. Members of the French Club study the progressions of the French language and its effect on the cultures and languages of other countries in our modern times and in centuries past. The homecoming float was one of the major projects of the year. As one of the lovliest floats in the parade, it was awarded second place in the school competition. A grade average of 3.5 for three consecutive semesters is required for member- ship. This honorary society has been active throughout the year. lt's first project was a spaghetti dinner for all members and their guests, followed by an evening in a Spanish restaurant. The purpose of the society is to stimulate an interest in the study of French by promoting excellent scholastic achievements in the study of the French language. Creating a desire for understanding French culture and civilization, the overall program implants a sense of respon- sibility in the student by rewarding high scholastic achievement.
