Spanish Club The study of the Spanish Language is only the first step in the fulfillment of the objectives of the South Dade Spanish Club. This club promotes an awareness of our southern neighbors and endeavors to develop an insight into the cultural aspects of peoples of Spanish-speaking nations. Every student who is genuinely interested in the people of a different culture, heri- tage, and language is encouraged to become a member of this organization. Hard work and imagination were evident in the Spanish Club's Homecoming float, which placed third in the school competition. Active in all dramatic presentations, National Thespians is the center of the drama department. This year the annual Thespian play, under the direction of lVlr. David Kross, was the musical comedy, The Fantasticks. The Thespians also present the annual Mummy Awards to students who have played an active role in the dramatic presentations of the school year. A grade average of 3.5 for three consecutive semesters is required for member- ship. This honorary society has been active throughout the year. lt's first project was a spaghetti dinner for all members and their guests, followed by an evening in a Spanish restaurant.
