HIGHLIGHTS Although South Charleston was picked to win this game the breaks seemed to be against them as Clendenin held the Eagles to a tie game. Michaux made the Eagle touchdown in the first half and with seconds remaining in the last quarter, Butcher passed to Sibold in the end zone but the ball was intercepted and the game ended in a deadlock. South Charleston managed two touchdowns against an un- beaten Barboursville eleven but it was to no avail. Playing an a muddy field, John Steele recovered a fumbled punt to set up the first score. A sixty five yard march with Shike Keene going the final five yards added the second. An inspired Eagle team took their first win at the expense of St. Albans in a thrilling fight to the finish. Extra points and John Scott's action in re- covering a fumble saved the game. Eddie Butcher accounted for two touch- downs and passed to Bob Sibold for a third. The additional one was made by Shike Keene. Michaux spearheaded the attack against the fighting lrish by scor- ing both of South Charleston's touchdowns. One resulting from a forty yard pass from Bob Sibold, the other on a thirteen yard run. Keene converted for the extra point. The Black Eagles' upset over Dunbar came as no surprise to the fans. South Charleston held a l3-O lead until the Bull- dogs finally scored in the final period. More than once the Eagles' defense had to ward off a Dunbar rally. Early in the second quarter Butcher went over on a one-inch sneak after Michaux buffered to the goal line. Dennis Osborne gave a thrilling performance when he scooped up a Bulldog fumble and ran forty-four .yards to score. The Eagles started weak and finished strong, win- ning their last three games. Our last game enabled us to retain the Lion's Club trophy. Every Black Eagle fan can say, We're proud of you.
