emor aaa solar SENIORS' It hardly seems posssble why st was only yesterday that we began our hsgh school career How bewsldered and confused we were sn those fsrst days as Sophomores not knowsng where to turn or what to do We soon learned that we were as new to our prsncspal Mr Snyder as he was to us Thss was hss fsrst year at South Charleston Hsgh School and as we became Junsors then Sensors he remasned our constant gusde The hsghlsght of our Sophomore year was attendsng our fsrst Snow Festsval whs h fslled us wsth sdeas for the Junsor Sensor Promswe would gsve the next year our Garden sn Paradsse Graduatson tsme our Junsor year members of our class also recesved honors JUDY STEWART won the D A R hsstory award and placed second sn the Natsonal French Contest wsthsn the state BARBARA SCHOONOVER and GYPSY BARKER were awarded Qusll and Scroll and eleven Junsors were taken snto the Natsonal Honor Socsety W sasd good bye to the graduates and the thought that we would be next gave us a msxed feelsng of sadness and elatson That summer HARRIETT FULKES BARBARA SCHOONOVER SUZANNE WALKER JUDY FOX and SALLY ECKEL were our delegates to Gsrls State PHIL WATSON and DAVID COOK went to Boys State and MICHAEL KRNETA BILL PRICE and JANE KEYS traveled to Camp Horseshoe Our Sensor Year began we were the leaders and were allowed specsal prsvsleges ALICE DURRETT was chosen pressdent of our class PHIL WATSON who had led our class for the two prevsous years was Pressdent of the Student Body DAVID COOK was elected Pressdent of County Co Government PAT MAHONEY en couraged by our new coach Stoner Parsons Captasned the team to a most Important vsctory over Dunbar whsle on the edge of the fseld our cheerleaders led the crowd ANN WINNINGS was elected Msss Black Eagle and she wsth the attendants BARBARA BATES and JANE KEYS added color to our homecomsng vsctory BRENDA DELANEY who won second place sn twsrlsng at the 1957 Masorette Festsval and the whole corp who had won fsrst place for thesr routsne stepped lsvely wsth SALLY ECKEL as thesr leader The sewsng class contsnued to produce professsonal clothsng and a sensor MARY ANN BLAIR took top honors sn the annual compets tson sver Bells w long rsng sn our ears after expersencsng the hard work and gasety that ss part of gsvsng the Snow Festsval South Charleston s proud sems fsnalssts sn the Natsonal Merst Scholarshsp Test were BARBARA SCHOON OVER JUDY STEWART ROGER HILL JIM STUCK PHIL WATSON and MAXWELL PADON At last all the term papers were sn and the sensor cards and snvstatsons out We marched down the assle sn cap and gown recesved our long awasted dsplomas and stepped forth to meet the world ,c7fQx . .
