Color My World In 1962 South Central Elementary and Jr. Sr. High Schools replaced the former schools of Clinton, Hanna, and Union Mills. However, these schools continued their programs in existing facilities until 1965 when the new building was completed. An expansion to the original Elementary School was completed in 1971, and it is known as the Fair-Sanders addition. It was named after two elementary teachers who had spent many years teaching here. The addition to the high school was built in 1979 when the corporation also changed its name from Clinton-Hanna-Noble Consolidated School Dis- trict to South Central Community School Corporation. It is named after SC’s first superintendent, John Dunk, who recently retired after 18 years of service to the corporation. The facilities in the new addition that we are especially proud of include the pool, gymnastics and wrestling area, an additional gym. and a stage for dramatic productions. South Central Community School Corporation has red, white, and blue as colors and an impressive Satellite symbol on the wall in the gymnasium Inrv At South Central when it first started back in 1963 were the teachers at the right: Mr. George Baker, Mrs. Helen Verkler, and Mr. Geroge Fettinger. They have a combined total of 73 Vi years of teaching experience, 60 at South Centred and 13Vi elsewhere. I t At South Central for at least IS years. Mr Suroweic has used over 8,000 feet of lumber In the shop, and has swept up about 2 tons of sawdust! Mrs Rosenbaum has spent 3,618 hours and 45 minutes on musicals and plays. She has also graded about 3,172 speeches! Mrs. Wallace has used 20.000 feet of rolled paper. 6.000 pounds of clay, and ISO gallons of poster paint! 36 A total of 1,224 students have graduated from SC di ingythfe years of Its existence. i f Mj The of 1963 had the smallest number — 82 had the largest — 86. ! lists include those who are in some ler. The primary purpose of the NCA evaluation is school improvement as well as an accreditation rating. It is a year long process of self-study which enables local educators to become more aware of the needs of the students, and determine whether or not SC’s academic and extracurricular programs are meeting those needs. Hopefully any necessary changes and NCA reccommendations will be implemented in the near future. PRINCIPALS: (above) Mr. David Geise. Jr-Sr HS; and (below) Mr J. Ivan Wengerd.
