South Central's ICT program this year has students working at many different jobs such as a gas station attendant, a truck driver, or a secretary. The ICT sponsor is Mr. Harold Clindaniel. This is the first year South Central has taken part in the vocational programs at Michigan City. Norman Timm and Garry Grzelak are enrolled in an electronics program at Rogers High School, and Skee Kammrath is in building trades at Elston High School. 4 French And German Clubs This year's French Club sponsored their first $150 scholarship. Mrs. Moore, sponsor, hopes to continue this project in future years. Both French and German clubs sang Christmas carols at the Christmas Program. German Club, sponsored by Mrs. Lucas, played policeman at the PTA Fall Festival with a mock jail. 5 Student Senate Student Senate had some learning experiences this year as the President and Vice President went to a summer camp at Indiana University. Among their activities were adopting a new point system and inducting eight new members. 10 What happens when a pajama factory superintendent falls for the union grievance committee chairperson? That's what SC's spring musical Pajama Game was all about. The 2 casts gave a total of four performances and were directed by Mrs. Pat Benn and Mr. Bob Keller. 11 12 Aside from directing the Concert Choir, Mrs. Benn worked hard organizing apple picking days to pay for their new robes. They were used in the Christmas and Spring Programs. 13 The South Central H.S. Band worked very hard this year selling fruit to earn money for their one week trip to Washington D.C. and New York. The band performed at Radio City Music Hall in New York as well as several other sites. They were honored in Washington D.C. by an award banquet followed by a farewell dance. The band returned home just in time for graduation. 14 15 CLASS SPONSOR: MICHELLE RENAVE ABSHIRE National Honor Society; Drama Club; French Club Officer; Pep Club; FHA; Cheerleader; Track; Basketball; Volleyball; Pom Pon; Band; Homecoming Queen; Prom Princess; Valentine Queen Candi. The class of '78 was a class that had been bound together since the first day of kindergarten. This class was the first to complete all 13 years of school at S.C. The class motto was Some men dream dreams and ask why; we dream dreams and ask why not. This was a class with many hopes and dreams. rr South Central Jr.-Sr. Prom Midnight Blue was the theme of the evening as couples dined at the Hoe Chay restaurant and then slipped over to the Canterbury Theater for a night of dancing in the moonlight to the music of Freeway. Juniors Scott Rosenbaum and Jackie Mangus were crowned prince and princess, while seniors Randy Lawson and Joni Wright reigned as king and queen for the night. Homecoming 77 This year's Homecoming was highlighted by a huge bonfire. It consisted of contests between classes topped off by an outdoor disco dance. Rain didn't dampen the Satellites' spirit on Homecoming night. During halftime Michelle Abshire was crowned queen. After the game, students caught the Friday Night Fever dancing to the music of FREEWAY. m . m - HOMECOMING QUEEN AND COURT: Teri Doll, Junior Princess; Annette Welkie, Sophomore Princess; Susan Huhnke, Freshman Princess.
