Mm Social Studies Department The Social Studies Department discovered that the problems of yesterday perplex the students of today. Juniors were able to contract their History grades, Government students had to struggle through their last year and underclassmen found they had just begun! Teachers were MR. DAVID HOOPER tTOP M, MR. MARK POTRZEBOWSKI tBOT. IQ, and MRS. SALLY LUCAS, Jr. High. Business Department The blur of fingers skimming rapidly over the typewriter keys and the lightening quick shorthand skills of some business students left both MRS. SHERIDAN MUSITELLI HOP IQ and MRS. HELEN VERKLER UJPPER Rs amazed at their ability. Each high school student had at least one English period daily. Freshmen studied Shake- speare, Sophomores took up journalism, Junior speeches varied from How to Change Tires to Curling Hair , and the Seniors expressed their feelings poetically. SALLY LUCAS tBELOWl was the German club sponsor and taught German I-IV and Social Studies . MRS. PAM MOORE tBOTTOM Rl taught French to all interested high school students and also took five students to France during spring break. Upon returning home, they all agreed that it was well worth the jet lag. Industrial Arts Department MR. GARY KLAYBOR tBOTTOMt and MR. RICHARD SUROWIEC tTOPt were in charge of the shop department. For the first time, junior high girls took Shop I and some even liked it better than Home EC. The largest high school band in the history Of the school performed at both winter and spring concerts and had a fine marching summer.
