These sales have proven to be very prosperous and have helped in buying materials and other instruments that will benefit the BAND. Under the direction of Mr. Byron Taylor, the Satellite BAND has perform- ed at all the home games this year, and made sitting in your seat at halftime worthwhile! 11 Cheerleaders: Rah! Rah! There were rehearsals, walls to be papered and painted, and plenty of laughs. The cast and crew probably enjoyed the play as much as the audience. CAST Abby Brewster The Rev. Mrs. Sally Cunningham led the girls in working out precision routines for each bas- ketball game. Everyone was delighted with the half-time performances they gave us. 19 The highlight of the year for the French Club was the European trip taken during spring vacation. Those going were Miss Wakeman (sponsor), Lori Heironimus, Bruce Carter, Dave Wake- man, Sherri Mills, and Patti Wakeman. French students also tutored the 6th graders to prepare them for foreign language courses on the high school side. Some members, below, are showing off their Biiche de Noel -- a Yule log Christmas cake. This year's German Club spon- sored by Mrs. Lucas, had a world cup tournament in soccer. The Ger- man Club challenged the French Club and won. Members also enjoyed a dinner at the Brown Bear Restaurant in Chicago. High school students also tutored 6th graders. During spring vacation Patty Deer- ing, Chris Stull and Bob Preston, took part in a tour of Holland and Germany called Eine romantische Reise. 21 Orbit Club The co-editors for Orbit 13 were Carol Goodwin and Joanne R inker. Every Tuesday, the Or- bit Club remained after school to complete the book. Mrs. Verkler, the advisor, assisted them. The backroom became a second home for many. This is where they carefully constructed pages, wrote copy, typed, and cropped pic- tures. They, along with a tre- mendous staff, worked hard to meet the deadlines and produce this book. Waiting for a track meet, Patty Eaton gladly poses for the camera. Greg Walter, during P.E., shows % that he is definately Olympic material on the rings. i Next year, the Orbit's editors and photographers will be Laurie Horst, Pam Peters, Sue Hurni, and Marla Lawrence. We wish them patience, determination, and most of all - LUCK - because it's one heck of a job. Carol and Joanne 24 The Thespian Troupe inducted fifteen new members into their society this spring. They, along with the help of the Drama Department, presented the musical-comedy Bye Bye Birdie . This spoof of the Elvis Presley era was centered around the dilemmas encountered by Albert (Dave Wakeman) and Rose (Carol Goodwin). Albert, Conrad Birdie's manager, arranged a farewell appearance for Birdie (Roger Rosenfeld) on the Ed Sullivan Show due to Birdie's recent army recruit- ment. The play was a huge success which brought much de- light to the captivated audience. 25 The Music Department The swing choir, better known as Apollo '75, sang up a storm this year. Under the direction of Miss Fran Newlon, they performed for induction ceremonies, con- certs, and even the half- time of a basketball game. The girl's chorus also did their share of entertaining. 26 I The South Central Band traveled to South Bend where they marched in a parade honoring the President of the United States. For this they were awarded a plaque signed by President Gerald R. Ford for an outstanding per- formance. 27 Rocket Man This year a new club came into formation, the Rocket Club, spon- sored by Mr. Baker and Mr. Fleck. Although it was a cold, windy day, the students swarmed outside to observe as the club members Blasted Off their various rockets. 5, 4, 3,2,1,0-Blast Off! 28 This year's F.H.A. sponsored by Mrs. Burge, and Health Careers sponsored by Mrs. Heironimus, were very active with many projects. The F.H.A. took a field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, and saw various Christmas trees from around the world. The F.H.A. and Health Careers each bought a needy elementary child a pair of glasses with donations they received from the UNICEF program. The Health Careers sponsored a dance and also had a cake raffle at each home basketball game. Together with the F.H.A. the Health Careers went on a tour of Beatty Hospital, and gave a ward party for the women patients. 29 Many students found half-day jobs through I.C.T. The enrollment of this group increased great- ly this year. Mr. Clindan- iel helped in selecting and locating a job. In April the annual I.C.T. banquet was held at the LaPorte Holiday Inn. Each member brought a guest from their place of employment. Joe Nehl and Vickie Jonas were chosen as the Outstanding I.C.T. students. 31 ftenio s 32 IV'VN f' W lL wi S y - £ e 33 The Graduating Class of 1975 Motto: Tomorrow is the dream of hope and we are the hope of tomorrow. The NCA is the largest regional accrediting agency serving a 19-state region span- ning the Mid-United States. This took place in April of this year at the NCA in Chicago; it was announced jointly by J. Ivan Wengerd, C. Steven Snider, and John Dunk, also Mr. Donald C. Roush, president of the NCA. 101 a e MR.GARY KLAYBOR Freshman Sponsor Industrial Arts L South Central Faculty 103 MRS. RUTH GRIEGER Seventh Grade Sponsor English Dept. 104 105 MRS. The prom was attended by 78 couples. The Tom Milo Orches- tra provided the music. The 1975 Prom King and Queen were Bill Weinkauff and Beth Wright. After dancing, couples de- parted to see Young Frankenstein at the Premiere Theatre in Valpo. The breakfast was held at the Court. During the meal, Jr. Waters played the piano and sang. Later the couples were enter- tained by a juggler. 114 c O o 1-4 CO X c c 1-4 o Susie Smoker and Steve Boyd crowned the Prom King and Queen. 115 The Launchers sponsored the Texas Cow- girl game. A few of our brave faculty challenged them to a basketball game. Mr. Fettinger pro- vided us with half-time entertainment. He was given ten chances at the free-throw line to make a basket. Each time he missed he had to remove a piece of clothing. 118 American Folk Music The Donkey Basketball game once again left every- one laughing. But this didn't include Pete Costello who acquired a broken arm from being thrown. The seniors defeated the faculty. All of the student body enjoyed the music created by the couple who gave us a convocation on American Folk Music. 119 ()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()() )()()() LAPORTE COUNTY FARM BUREAU CO-OP ASS N.
