To qualify, a stu- dent must have a B average or above and excel in the qualities of character, leadership, and service. The South Central chapter has twenty-one members from the junior and senior classes. A candlelighting ceremony was used at the induction ceremony for the first time in the annals of South Central. The Na- tional Honor Society decorated a huge Christmas tree in the central hall. The members also took a trip to Chicago and dined at San Remo. The Student Senate is one of the most active groups at South Central. Its members are elect- ed by the students of each class to represent them in the student government. The Student Sen- ate determines the dress code of the school. It sponsors a Dress- Up Day, a Hobo Day, and an oc- casional movie. The Student Senate gives a scholarship each year to a deserving senior who is planning to attend a college, university, or trade school. Mr. Kegebein sponsors this group. KNEELING: President - E. Juture Jarmers Africa The Future Farmers of America, commonly known as the FFA , is the national organization for boys studying vocational agriculture. It is an integral part of the program of vocational agriculture.
