Zhe Scho III of S.C.M.S. Will fte An Everlasting Memory Zo Zhe Senior Class Of 1965 South Central School Union MUis, Jndiana rSouth Central m dm mlli hB VA: ; vW mmm Wm® §3s. mm To Maurice E. Lundborg We, the Senior Class of 1965, are very proud to dedicate the Echo III to a man who has devoted so much time and leadership to us through- out our high school years at South Central. By showing authority when necessary, he has received respect and still maintained the friendship of the students. He has also shown a sincere desire to prepare us for the future. Therefore, we wish to gratefully recognize the sponsor of the Echo III, as a man whom we feel has been an inspiration to each of us. The Senior Class of 1965 mm. wmim. |i® SSiii m MM mm §®lll Administration cmi1 $Mmik Mr. John Gardner, Mr. Harlan Siegesmund, Mr. Cecil Goodwin, Mr. John Dunk- Superintendent, Mr. Wayne Kneisley and Mr. Charles Stephens. Ground breaking The Groundbreaking Ceremony was definitely one of the highlights of South Central's short history. This was a major step forward in prov- viding the students of South Central with a better education through im- proved and expanded facilities. Shown above are the school board mem- bers and the superintendent at the ceremonies in May of 1964. At right is an aerial photograph of the development of the buildings in January of 1965. The school will be ready for occupancy in September of 1965. The student body and the whole community eagerly await its completion. School Hoard BOARD MEMBERS, left to right: Cecil Goodwin, Vice-President; John Gardner, President; Harlan Siegesmund, Secretary; Leonard Thalmann, Treasurer; and Clarence Bluhm. Tragedy struck one member of the Clinton-Hanna- Noble School Board early in 1965. Wayne Kneisley, board member for two terms, was fatally injured in an auto accident on U. S. 30. Board member Clarence Bluhm, who was elected to succeed Mr. Kneisley, was sworn into office to fill the vacancy. Wayne Kneisley Superintendent Superintendent of Schools JOHN R. DUNK Secretary DORTHY ROSENBAUM On the occasion of our building program obser- vance, we take great pride in reviewing the future of South Central School. We pay tribute to our commun- ity, alumni, faculty, students and School Board whose loyalty and support made this program possible. The results of your efforts on behalf of the Consoli- dated School District are reflected in the continually high standards of our academic progress. A most cordial invitation to join us in the never ending process of development and learning in the new South Central School. John R. Dunk Superintendent 8 Principal Secretary ELLA MAE KING To the student body I want to say, Strive for greater goals. To the seniors who are leaving South Central, sincere hope goes with you that you have found ample basis here to provide for your future. Do not let this be the stopping place for your learning, but rather let it be the springboard which will give you the proper velocity to enter the main stream of life. Do not go so fast that there is no time to enjoy life, nor so slow that life becomes a drag. Thus, I hope you have found the proper per- spective. To the underclassmen, sincere best wishes as you go forward into the new building. Remember that a new building is only an aid for better educa- tion. Real success comes with sincere desire and effort on the part of you, your teachers, and your community. Sincerely, Merle Gould 9 Elementary Principal Congratulations to the Class of 1965. The South Central chapter has twenty-one members from the junior and senior classes. A candlelighting ceremony was used at the induction ceremony for the first time in the annals of South Central. The Na- tional Honor Society decorated a huge Christmas tree in the central hall. The members also took a trip to Chicago and dined at San Remo. The Student Senate is one of the most active groups at South Central. Its members are elect- ed by the students of each class to represent them in the student government. The Student Sen- ate determines the dress code of the school. It sponsors a Dress- Up Day, a Hobo Day, and an oc- casional movie. Many more facilities will be added next year. These facilities enable the art student to expand into different types of art. The art students have done very fine work this year. The Art Department made decorations for the Christmas Con- cert, decorated the Christmas tree in the cafeteria with ornaments made by the students, and participated in var- ious activities. The County Tournament and the Sectional Tournament are held in January and February of each year. At this time the students in the cheering section or pep block really shine. They work closely with the cheerleaders to develop new routines and yells that will make the school spirit outstanding. These students represent every class-- Jr. High through High School. 91 L. Yeoman Darkroom The darkroom is where all the pictures appearing in the annual, except the senior pictures, were printed. Mr. George Baker, truly the man behind the scene, put in many of his hours printing pictures for the annual. The darkroom is located next to the science room. Although equipment and space are limited, he has produced an abun- dance of pictures for our annual and the students. Mr. Baker has throughout the year taken pictures and made copies for the students. Pictures of the student activities are taken and sold to the students. Because of the new darkroom facilities, many students are showing an interest in photography. 94 PRESIDENT Dennis Hatfield juniors SECRETARY Linda Swanson VICE-PRESIDENT Barry Younggreen TREASURER Sharon Meyer R.
