He can recall the day when the moth- ers or fathers of some of the juniors and seniors were attending school here. Since then. many changes have taken place. Before a Stoker was installed, it was necessary to heat the building by hand firing the furnace every half hour. On the right is Leo Howell, who has been here for nine years. Because of the greater en- rollment of the school this year, more space be- ing utilized and requiring cleaning, the two custodians are kept busy at all times. Kitchen Staff Mrs. Emma Thomas, on the right, is in her sixteenth year as school cook. She has always taken pride in the fact that she knew everyone's likes and dislikes. When first working for the school, there were about 140 students served in the cafeteria, but now there are 300 to be fed every day, which has made it necessary to have a sp1it noon hour. Mrs. Maxine Hall. center, has worked part- time for seven years, but this year is on a full- time basis. Mrs. Edna Howell, on the left, and Mrs. A. Bishop tnot in the picture are new as- sistants. , 4 1m ryrzlplzs Senior 611155 0f iccrs SECRETARY PRESIDENT CAROLINE ANN UTROSKE BARRY WAYNE HATFIELD Hanna 1-11 South Central 12 Annual Staff 4 Class Officer 1-3-4 Chorus 1-2-4 Band 1-2-3-4 Class Play 3 Science Fair 1-2 Science Fair 2 Student Council 2 Newspaper Staff 4 k Oratorical 2-3 Student Council 1-2-3 Girls' State 3 Cheerleader 1-4 Oratoricnl 3-4 2 3 Class Elmer cm Pep Club 2 G-A-A- 132 Intermural Basketball 4 Carnation Baseball 1-2 Basketball 1-2-3 611155 601m Cross Country 1-2 Volleyball 2-3 Drama Club 4 Clinton 1-11 South Central 12 Annual Staff 4 Class Officer 1-3-4 Chorus 2-3-4 Blue and Silver 811155 Motto The past forever gone-- the future still our uwn. The National Honor Society is composed of students with outstanding scholastic ability. Those who are invited to join are seniors and Juniors. The four symbols of the Honor Society are Character. Leadership, Service, and Scholarship. It is the most . e , ' elite and honored group of the school and serves as a guide and a goal to the other students. Student 60mm! The first student councrl in a new school has many responsibili- ties. It is concerned with making School laws and setting school stan- dards. Before this can bc accom- plished, the student counctl must have a law of its own. The representative of each Class Worked hard to write it constitution. The rules, which affect all students directly, were made by the student council members in the form of a handbook. For education- al purposes, the student council planned convocations. For social purpo:es, dances and parties were sponsored. Money raised from these events builds a scholarship fund which a senior. chosen by the student council, will re- ceive upon graduation.
