Watch out world, the Spooksl' have invaded the SOUTH CAROLINA! We no longer, Come and go by nightn, we're here to stay! This honor was initially bestowed upon SOCAR D ' ' ' with the arrival of Lt Rapin, the Cryptologic Division Officer, in late December 1980 followed by the initial input of the present crew in mid-March 1981. All that most people see of our spaces is our Front Doorl' which is made of reinforced steel with an electronic alarm, electronic cipher lock and manual tumbler combination dial lock. In effect, our spaces are a sealed vault but that's to keep people out - not us in! Although music of any sort is often heard filtering out of outboard, we don't party all the time. Sometimes we work M Cabout 10 minutes a day when the Chief crawls out of his rackj! Seriously, OT Division's mission is to conduct defensive studies designed to ensure that U.S. communications are secure and protected from hostile countermeasures including meaconing, interference, jamming and intrusion CMIJIJ. We also advise U.S. Commanders concerning procedures and techniques which could be used to counter enemy command and control communications. Last but often times most important we perform direction finding and range estimations in support of search and rescue operations. Top row: Lt Rapin Division Officer CTTC Doliesla I v , gger. Division is to maintain a high standard of reliable communications with ships in the Battle Group and shore installations. Radiomen communicate primarily by electrical communications via satellite and the Signalmen rely mainly on flashing light and flag hoist. Our highly trained communicators keep us in touch with the world. Radio provides the equipment platform which CIC utilizes to fight the war, play the exerps, or coordinate Mars deliveries. Radiomen can get flashes to the Fleet CINC'S or mailgrams to your lady. RMC Cassity SMI Williams . 'L f i, .,.Wwf Hmm I guess I better not send in flashing light what I'm thinking!!
