On With the Show This year the Theatre Club welcomed a new advisor. The club did a theatre review with scenes from various plays and also performed a spring musical. Sometimes a break was taken during their intense rehearsals to go into the city to experience the entertainment of profes- sional actors. They went to see A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and planned a trip to New York to see a Broadway show. About 30 people were officially in this year's club. Miss Handshin's goal for the year was to have a successful theatre season and to get more and more people interested in the club. li, V .fgazm Andrea Dimino is all wrapped up in her script. Q, .. lx i g A .......,,. ! 75 gui! A X, P .e T ' A ---------W ,- hw! ,, i Building Mind, Bod and Soul The Universal Club consists of both male and female student body members. Throughout the course of the school year they spend time after school, 3 times a week, liftin weights to increase their ability to grow. Coach Scerbo advises this club on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after school. Chris Cassese gives George Blue an extra hand. jeff Gordon spots Steve Yaros so no one gets hurt. 1 14--. Photograph Club The Photography Club, run by Mrs. O'Connell, meets every other Wednesday. Members of the club not only learn how to paint and shoot, but also learn the parts ofthe camera. Students shoot and develope their own black and white film. Members practice with different mediums, such as water in motion shots and color slides. Portraits are also another type of picture taken by the club. Members gain an understanding of what it takes to shoot a great picture and have fun in the process. 187

French Honor Society The French Honor Society is an organization designed to stimulate in- terest and enthusiasm for the French culture and civilization. The students must hold an A- average in French and a B average in every other class. They must also be in French Ill. F.H.S. meetings are held on the third Tues- day of every month. The club writes their own newsletter called La Lien Francais fthe French connectionl, and they are going to see Cyrano de Bergerac . 188 Spanish Honor Society Mrs. Ruffner, the advisor of the Spanish Honor Society, was proud to welcome twelve new members to the club this year. To be a member of S.H.S you have to be a junior or a senior with an A- or higher in Spanish, and a B average in all other classes. The S.H.S. praises students for their achievements in foriegn language, and designed to enrich appreciation of Spanish history and culture. The club has already attended a perfor- mance of Evita , a musical that tells the story of Eva Peron of Argentina. The honor society gives their members the respect they deserve for their outstanding achievements. fi ? f -'X .. . Qs. sf?S?4i National Honor Society The National Honor Society is a na- tional organization. This year the ad- visor is Mr. Paul Sears. The qualities of the people selected are leadership, character, and service. A member must maintain a 5.7 average. The services the members must pro- vide are tutoring and providing scholarships. This year's induction ceremony was held on Thursday, December 6. This year they held a candy cane sale. Half of the money went in the scholarship fund and the other half went to the needy. In the spring, NHS held a volleyball marathon for their scholarship fund. In addition, they annually attend the CROP walk. ln their spare time they get together and celebrate their achievements.
