IV Boys Soccer Survived A Rough Season Finishing up the season with a record of 5-8-1, you can say the jV Vikes had a disappointing year. However, that is in the past and the future is what we're counting on. Their main problem was a lack of ex- perience and skills. Which can only improve with a little time and hard work. Major contributors on the offence were, Matt jenkin, jason Barcelo, Brian Leowenthal, and jamie Goldburg. As far as the defence went, there were such stronge players as, Tom Walker, Rakesh Shah, Deedak Taneja, Mike Zaboray, and golie Paul Rosseta. Caoch Bonfillio is really looking for- ward to next year. He feels the travel- ing teams are a big factor in the future of boys soccer. Like they say, Winn- ing isn't everything! A SEASON TO CELEBRATE Record:12- :ig . L I QQ, 3 . 2 Q. This group of Freshman guys really know what they're doing. Coach Dennis Duttry was very pleased with his, EX- PERIENCED, GOOD BALL CON- TROL,' team. He also goes onto say that this Was, THE BEST FRESHMAN SOCCER TEAM, in the history of South Brunswick. Not only did they work the ball up to the defenders net, but kept it away from their own. By working together, they got a lot accomplished. The main scorers, for these young Vikes, were john Harms and right wing, jack Mould. The tough defenders includ- ed Scott Baylis, Tony Zea , and right fullback Brian Miller. Many victories and new beginnings are instore for these talented boys. Girls Varsity Soccer Go To T Going into their fourth season, the girls soccer team is looking better every year. This year, in particular, marks the first year they qualified to go into the State Tournament. They held their own and did as well as ex- pected. Each year something new is accomplished, but this season these lady Vikes weren't satisfied with just one thing, they had alot of new developments. As far as the season went, many new doors opened...more scoring, a stronger defense and beating such arch-rivals as Monroe and Hoffman. Also, for Michelle Leungtflaptainl and Sandy Stelling who were picked se- cond team all-division players. The most improved player was Captain, Diane Hague. While the most offen- sive players were Natalie Mould and Stacey Lanza. Once again, for the second year in a row, the girls were faced with the, Spotswood linx . Every season the last game is played against Spotswood and every year it ends up in a tie. Next year they are going to try and break this upsetting tradition. The future looks very promising with alot of young players returning next fall. Also, the upcoming seniors, Lara Hrinkvich, Eileen Mclntire, Tami Smith, Natalie Mould, Lisa Logan, Eileen Garcia, Sandy Stelling, and Mary Ann Heinzeroth. Eileen Mclntire shows her finesse with the ball. 4t ff '...l. Patti Leung takes a shot at the goal. l 46 e States... as . , wg.. .- A , .-.W ,Y . ' .L Q KR .:f..t... tg
