New Beginning This years season ended with a record of 1-8, not much better than last year but things were a lot dif- ferent. The whole coaching staff was brand new along with the way the team was taught to play football. Head coach Nick Scerbo and assistants, john Donnelly, Tom For- mosa and john Coppolla tried all new strategies to see what they were working with. They were pleased with the team but admit they need a little time to get things worked out. The offence and defense came on very strong but the problem was that they were not consistant. One would do well in one game while the other does well in another game. Amoung the offensive players were, joe Thomas, Steve Yaros, Scott Wojton, Al Severino and Roland Burnet, who all played defensivly as well. Key defenders were Buddy Bianchi, Den- nis Wonderland and john Coleman. Once again everyone came to cheer the Vikings on against arch- rivals, North Brunswick. The game was rained out Thanksgiving day, but rescheduled that following Saturday. Unfortunately, it also poured Satur- day but that didn't keep the fans away. We didn't win but we held them to a reasonable score. All of the team members had a good attitude despite the rough season. Considering the fact that these new coaches brought a new system to South Brunswick made it difficult to show great results the first year. just give them a couple years to teach the young players what to ex- pect and they'll have a winning team. 1 58 Pile on the man with the ball!
