English Can you beleive how much the English department has changed in the last 25 years? Teachers have more choices now on how they want to go about teaching assignments. Back in the 60's everything was taught strictly from a book. First of all, there were very few books to choose from and second, they weren't updated. Now, the choices are great! The teachers have such a wide selection of books that they can change the old methods of teaching to newer more interesting and engoyable lessons. If they don't want to use the book, rent the movie. just sign out the V.C.R. and everything is taken care of. Colligan ln Mr. Hiles helps a student with a difficult problem. Do you recognize these two? That's Mr. Shoeman and Mr. Hiles. They have both been in this school for 21 years. Can you imagine being in high school for that long? A lot has changed since they first started here. For instance, fewer students went to college 25 years ago. Most of them took a few business classes and went right out into the working world. Sure it sounds easy and fun, but they only made 51.50 an hour. Can you im- agine living on 51.50 an hour? Money isn't the only thing that has changed since the first graduating class was here in 1963. There have been great advances in technology since then, and the business department has surely moved along with the times. The department has expanded from using manual typewriters, unit record equipment, mimeograph and ditto machines to using electric typewriters, microcomputers, IBM word processors and text writers. Things have really changed in the past 25 years, and the school has real- ly kept up with the times. The business department has also, it is still preparing students for college and the working world. 115
