Administration celebrates our 25th year. D. Polm, G. Davies, M. Russo, R. Kaye, D. Prouty, R. Chopick, 1. Valenti. Dear Graduates ofjune 1986: You are the class to celebrate the 25th anniversary of South Brunswick High School. The class that first graduated 25 years ago was probably very different in its view of the world and the individual personalities that were the class of 1961. At the same time both of your classes are very much alike in that the celebration of high school and into the lesser known pieces of young adulthood. A silver anniver- sary is both a beginning and a milestone. lt represents the passing of time and the special story of the people who shared in the living and tradition building of those years. While the world that awaits you may be differnt in its technology and specific problems, it is still a world that re- quires people to communicate, problem-solve and care about the quality of life in each human being. South Brunswick High School in 1986 is very different from the school that was in 1961. The physical structure of the building and the facilities now available far surpass the expectations of our ancestors. The offerings that are part of our school program are more diverse and reach levels of thought that may not have been possible at the earlier time since some of the discoveries that we now studywere not reality then. The pace of living appears to be very much faster even to the point of increasing individual discomfort and pain as people reach out hoping for a moment to be heard, to be understood, to be recognized, to belong. This high school has always endeavored to understand diversity and support individuality. The faculty has continued to hold strong views about the human qualities that enable us 114 C. Hunt, N. Sandvik, M. Marbut, T. Biddle, F. Petrillo. to think, feel, problem-solve and move ahead by conscious decision. in our tradition, the individual has never been sacrificed. Living together we have shared moments of extreme joy and some moments of devastating anguish and darkness. We have helped each other to find reason when there was very little evidence that it existed. We have mourned together and found renewed strength in our human relationships. Today the township of South Brunswick is again in transi- tion with dramatic change touching our landscape and im- pacting upon the role of this high school and the meaning of community. Our school will change as it has changed during these past four years that you nurtured us and brought us to our current place. As you move past these school years we hope you will continue to bring the qualities that exemplify our student body to all those that you meet in the coming years: empathy, and ability to feel and love, and understanding of the importance of a human life, a willingness to commit your energy toward the hard work of achieving excellence, an ability to extend your hand in brotherhood. Wherever you go, you have our affection and good thoughts. Whenever you need to check back, we will be here and available. Your dreams are what is possible for the future and I hope that you will allow your imagination and energy to soar to new accomplishments on behalf of all humankind. I C.',fuj ,02 ,Q
