LEWIS MISS PIC KARD guidance Four people who deserve all the credit we can give to them are Mr. Schwall, Mrs. Lewis, Mr. Schumacher, and Miss Pickard. Mrs. Giles is the head secretary and is in charge of all college transcripts, sports eligibility lists, students' grades, and permanent stu- dent records. Mrs. Huston assists Mr. Wrinkle. Mrs. Venables is in charge of paying all bills and taking care of the school finances. Mrs. Vittoria is in charge of student insurance, the county budget, helps with bookkeeping, and assists Mrs. Venables. Mrs. Zalcman types all stencils and assists Mrs. Giles. '57 bullclogs '57 BULLDOGS Few football seasons have been quite so exciting as the T957 season. The first loss to Pompano set the boys on their toes and they played outstanding foot- ball against Tech, North Miami, Miami Beach, Hialeah, South Dade, Key West, Central Catholic The defeats to Curley and Ft. Lauderdale, were close games in which the mighty Bulldogs showed their true fighting spirit. Four of our Bulldogs, Sam Sepielli, Steve Greenberg, Alan Wright, Steve Davis were nominated for the All State Team. The most heart breaking meet was when the team lost to Ft. Lauderdale by a score of 42-43. Two girls were awarded trophies for their outstanding ability and service to the team. The council is com- posed ot students representing homerooms in the sophomore, junior and senior classes. Different from most, Broward's student council attempts to make the school's constitution a working part of all clubs. Therefore, the clubs sponsor pro- iects to improve the school, and council acts as the govern- ing body. Council 's main proiect of the year was to purchase bleachers for the swimming pool. Therefore, they earn while they learn. A number of Chamber of Commerce break- fasts and board meetings were attended by D.C.T. students dur- ing the year. A model parliamentary procedure demonstration was given forthe Miramar P.T.A., and D.C.T. also parti cipated in the collection for the March of Dimes. As school proiects, the club re-decorated the women teachers' lounge and donated one hundred dollars to the Jeff Woodward Memorial Fund. The club sold sweater guards and Christmas cards as their money making proiects. In preparation for the annual District meeting, the club worked on Parliamentary procedure, impromptu speaking, and spelling. The biggest activity of the year was the Employer-Employee Banquet which was held at Tropical Acres. Eight members attended the State Convention of the Federation of D.C.T. clubs in Daytona Beach. The club also held the annual County Fair with Key Club. For Christmas, the girls made place mats for a hospital. They held numerous bake sales and also entered a float in the Tropicale Fiesta Parade. The Senior Debs this year for the first time sponsored Torch Day on which the seniors present their privileges and offices to the juniors. For on this night, Pat Patterson, homecoming queen, and the members of her court, Anne Cauley, Joyce Janzer, Nancy Lightfoot, and Carol Cassidy were chosen to reign over the homecoming festivities. Fred Ryan, master of ceremonies, introduced the superb talent provided by our own South Broward students. This very beautiful and impressive coronation will long be remembered by all who saw it. Y With Enchanted Evening chosen for the Junior Senior Prom, South Broward students enjoyed them- selves to the fullest at a dance always to be remem- bered. Other activities after the prom such as a movie, a boat ride, a splash party, and a breakfast, also provided much fun. Dancing was also provided afterwards ar the breakfast. At l0:00 o'clock, the big moment arrived when Ann Cauley and Dick Uecker were crowned the sweethearts. Beside the entertaining skits that were presented, many students were awarded scholarships, and given class honors. Honor cords are presented to the top 10070 of the graduating class. Various civic groups paid the ex- penses of the delegates, who were nominated by their class and elected by a faculty com- mittee on the basis of their leadership, character and service to the school. While at the convention, these students enioyed a week of fun and learning. The convention functioned as a regular state of the United States, with the members being elected to various offices.
