Yum. Yum! Is It Good! The Home Economics Department headed by Mrs. lrene Monoghan has conducted an annual food show under the sponsorship of Hopkins' Electric Company of Holly- wood. In addition to the valuable experiences received in cooking, the girls have been enabled to improve other home making abilities such as sewing, home decorating, and child care. Another yearly affair of the department is a fashion show in which the Homemakers of Tomorrow model their own creations. 13

Zooming Saws, Rapping Hammers The Industrial Arts Department, directed by Mr. Chester Hoyt and Mr. Stuart Pelling, has offered courses in metal molding, woodwork, and mechanical drawing. In the completely equipped shop the boys construct everything from kites to boats. This year a sailing rig known as the Lanteen type was built. Throughout the year the department has contributed its talents to the school by assisting in scenery designing and by building two ticket booths for the athletic field. 12

Democracy m Action Students express their ideas, instructors listen. Teaching democratic procedures is one of the main objects of the classroom. Here pupils learn to think on their feet, to discuss current problems, and to evaluate their accomplishments. Through the correlation of the various school departments, students are trained to meet difficult everyday situations. 14
