MATTHEW J. FLAHERTY - is principal at S.B.H.S. - attended U.N.H. Plymouth State College, Randolph Macon College - received B.S.; M. Ed. - formerly taught at Dover High and Alton High - coaches track and cross country June 1966 To the Members of the Class of 1966: When the outstanding Class of 1965 graduated last June, there was concern expressed by some that the Class of 1966 could not hope to reach the former's achievements — but you have; you have even surpassed them in some respects -- such as the percentage con- tinuing post-high school education. Now that you have proven you can match or surpass them in continuing your education, I challenge you to do the same in com- pleting the post-secondary training which you have started; there are times when discontinuance is ration- al, but more often it terminates after a brief attempt rather than a sustained effort to succeed — short range goals are not easy to quell as compared to rationalizing long range objectives. Yours is the last class to graduate from South Berwick High School — you have been a credit to our school. You can be proud of your contributions in the fields of public speaking, drama, Math Club, athletic teams, Latin and French Clubs, etc., and, all important academically, you led the way by having most on the Honor Roll. Congratulations! MRS.
