GRAYSON A.HARTLEY Superintendent of Schools To the Graduating Class: Graduation is an event that seniors everywhere antic- ipate with a great deal of enthusiasm. A high school commencement seems to mean freedom, greater choice, new friends and places, and the thrill of choosing one's future career and embarking upon it. This year, 1966, is somewhat overshadowed by the worrisome events taking place in the world. However, in spite 01 the gloomy atmos- phere, one should not despair or lack courage to make plans for his future because the same challenges and op- portunities are waiting to be tried now just as they have been in the years past. America is still the land of great opportunity. Americans are still the most fortunate human beings born anywhere on this earth. We have our free- doms, great richness and abundance. As time passes, it becomes more important than ever for each American to take a responsible part in helping his country meet the challenges of the future. No longer can any American sit back and say, it's not my concern , as he pursues his private interest to the exclusion of everything else. If our democracy is to survive, every citizen must do his bit to insure the future that we want to come. My very best wishes to each of you for your future success. Grayson A. Hartley, Superintendent School Administrative District No. 35 Representatives: Mr. Stuart C. Chaplin, Mr. Henry R. Sawyer, Mr. J. Donald Staples, Mr. Robert L. Olmstead, Mr. Owen Stevens, Jr.; Absent-Mrs. Cecelia W. Morse.
