To him who loves nature She speaks A joyous language. With smiles and eloquent Beauty she heals men's minds. But men like to spurn her And think of shroud and pall; And when appalled by their thoughts Take comfort in that they shall rest with kings, patriarchs; and all These thoughts are of bad men and pharisees. Dismiss these thoughts and enjoy nature's beauties. Fish the streams Visit deep and dark vales Climb the mountains high And the message of God Shall not fail. It is but the opening of a door - That which was created from the Mother Shall return to her without Life, dead. That which was created from the Father Shall return to Him with life To be led to greater glories than nature could ever hold; And you shall be a member of His house With life everlasting, crown and scepter of gold. X MARKS THE SPOT THANKSGIVING PRAYER -Mari-Lyn Hagar -Joyce Cox Here lies the body Dear Heavenly Father up above. Of Fimbulus Lincoln, Thank you for sending parents One of those fellows, Who give me such great love, Who was always thinkin'. Thank you for a wonderful brother Who is kind and nice to me. Oh, he thought about speed, Thank you for letting me live And the show he was makin'. In a country that is free. But forgot to remember. Thank you for the eyes you gave me. The chance he was takin'. Thank you for the wonders of nature You created to see, He came from the corner There is so much Like barrelling thunder, I could thank you for, Well, no matter now, That I couldn't write it all, He's six feet under! But most of all, Dear God, Thank you. THANKS For the Grace you -William Morong Give us all. Politeness does require of us, HOMEWORK A thousand times a day, To express our gratitude, -Rogerlin Charbonneau And our thanks to say. I have never seen a poem, As lovely as a tree, In this expression that we use Or anything as awful as Quite empty, or is it filled? Are our thanks just merely said The work in front of me. Or are they felt and willed? Why teachers give us homework, I really do not know, Around us every single day I guess they think by giving it. We find a thousand things For our enjoyment and our study They help our brains to grow. Or to aid our laborings. But if you don't have none. They ne’r the less expect. But we always pass these by and say, That you will have your math done, They're granted, they're but small. While thousands of good people And all your problems checked. Don’t have these things at all. No, I have never seen a poem, As lovely as a tree. We have a lot to make us happy But I'd better do that homework. Much room for gratitude; Warm houses, good schools, fine clothes. And lots of tasty food. Let's feel thankful toward all people Not ungrateful and quite bored; Let's give our hearty thanks to men And, most of all, to the Lord. That’s there, in front of me. CLAS WELL! WHERE'S THE PICTURE? Coach I thought our chances were good from the beginning with Walter Nye and Gerald Gagnon filling in the weak spots of center and left guard respectively. Reporter What were some of the highlights of the season? Coach Well, the first one came in the York game when we found ourselves down at half-time by 8 points, 14-6, and we came back to score three touchdowns in the second half to win 27 to 14. Then, of course, you have those two intercepted passes by Peter McCam in the St. Ignatius and Wells games. Both interceptions were good for touchdowns, and one was returned for more than a hundred yards. Reporter Who was the most valuable player? Coach You can't really choose any one boy because it was a tremendous team effort all the way, but the two co-captains, Skip Lewis and Pete McCarn, were outstanding all season. Reporter What do you think your chances are for next year's team? Coach I think we will hold our own next year, and in two years we should be quite strong. ” CHAMPS ’61 Coach Cressey, Skip Lewis, and Pete McCarn standing with the trophies won by our football team this year.
