Class Prophecy New York N Y May 29 1959 To the Faculty As we promlsed the faculty of South Bend Cathollc to Inform them how the Senlor class of 49 would be progresslng ln the world ten years after graduatlon we thought thus an approprlate tlme to report the mformatlon we fell upon whlle we traveled around the world As world correspondents for Life Magazme we had to travel to many forelgn places to gather news On one of these asslgnments we had to cross the Atlantlc ocean to London where the fme and eloquent speeches of Eugene Lhmlel guest speaker at the Unlted Natxons As sembly were the talk of the town Allowed only a short VlSlt xn London we soon boarded a plane plloted by Jerome Podemskl, brave ex alrforce pllot who only recently re celved a c1tat1on from the Presldent for h1s mar velous and darlng escapades We recelved spe c1al attentlon from the pert and petlte stewar dess Rose Marie Golubski who dld everythlng posslble to make our fllght from London to Parls enjoyable At the Parls alrport our luggage was taken care of effxclently by Bob Kuminecz, a porter who told us that was the way he kept 1n con d1t1on between the football seasons of the Chlca go Bears We halled a taxl drlven by Lucille VVas who stlll had a hard tune gettlng used to Our first stop was the Parls Art Academy As we entered we were greeted by Ted Chwalek who was head 1nstructor Ted took us through the bu1ld1ng and led us to h1s most promxslng student Bernie Czyzevs skl who was sketchmg a paxr of tall exotxc models Rita Antkfoskl and Lauretta Urhanskl As we passed through the spotless corrldors our eyes fell upon a huddled object on her knees energetlcaly scrubblng a way the tlme of day chlef Janltress Jalcquelgn Slott In the muslcal sectlon of the bulldmg we were aston1shed to see George Aranowski beatmg h1s drums wth sncere hopes to measure up someday to hxs ldeal Gene Krupa In an other corner of the room was Chester Mosksun skl a muslc teacher who accompamed Irene Dlugosz as she sang an arla from Carmen We were startled to see Mary Ann Szachna ballet dancer performmg one of her most dxfflcult numbers from the The Fhght of the Swan Our next stop was Swltzerland where we saw The SWISS Skatlng Follles whlch starred Mardelme Kalmar and Frank Chrobot. Loretta Snladeckl too IS successful She IS a skatlng lnstructress We sald a swlft goodbye to Swltzerland and flew to the Belglan Congo where we were greeted by Professor Marg Louise Plckawet who had Just returned from an expedltlon lnto the deep mysterlous Jungle Leavlng the wllds of the Congo we were sur prlsed to see a new passenger for the return trlp home Congresswoman Dolores Klawmskl told us qulte a lot about her peace mlsslons m Europe and Afrlca At the New York axrport we were presented w1th the key to the cxty by Mayor S3 lvester Wa lorski We were then lntervlewed by Louise Cudowskl edltor of Glamour Magazlne Just off Txmes Square we found a new branch of the Ford Hopklns' drugstore under the manage ment of Mane Dlugosz Clnef soda Jerk Nancy Rogowskx treated us to a super colossal banana spht We wanted to see New York from the top of the Emp1re State Bulldlng We were greatly surprxsed when we found that Mary CIBSIPISKI ran an elevator xn the bulldlng On the way down we stopped on the 62nd floor to v1s1t the law offxce of promment prosecutlng attorney Elizabeth Trytko A few days later we heard the news that two of our former classmates Mary Ann Slusarek and Joan Chrobot were makmg thelr movle de but ln Hollywood Callforma so we were hastlly flown there by our pllot Our gulde on the movxe lot was Rita Strychalskn who made sure we wouldnt mlss any pomts of lnterest She took us on a tour of the varlous sets where we found Henrietta Kommklewlcz attlred ln a ten rectlng a posslble academy award plcture The Lone Ranger R1d8S Agam We were sorry to leave mov1eland so soon but we had a few more stops to make among them Savannah Georgla the great tobaccco state There we vlslted the fabulously wealthy Clar ence Wesollouskl on h1s tobacco plantatlon From Georgla we went to the very old clty of Boston There we VlS1t8d Theresa Graczyk and Helen Stankleuicz co owners of the Bel Alre Hotel where we saw Mlke Rafalski captaln of the bellqboys dressed ln a brlght red umform Next we toured the New Era Potatoe Chlp Com pany wlth Presldent Emlhe Adamskl as our gulde Last but not least we went to see Myra K at the Kochanowskl Sausage Shop where she treated us to a generous helpmg of Pollsh Klszka Westward bound our plane had to make a forced landlng m Arlzona on acount of hazar dous weather Though we were there only a short whlle we had tlme to v1s1t Robert Kamin sk: promment buslnessman ln that state H1s beautlful manslon overlooked stables of the flnest breeds of horses ln the world Resumlng our Journey we landed ln San Fran CISCO Callfornla where we VlSltEd one of the ' 1 1 1 I V .
