THE INDIVIDUAL The Class of 68 Presents NOTRE LIVRE H.G. Hoffman High School South Amboy, New Jersey FOREWORD In our ever changing and fast moving society, the need for a person to have his own beliefs and to be true to them is of great importance. To be an individual is not easy, as few things are if they are worthwhile, but the results are of defi- nite value to be used throughout a lifetime. We, the class of 1968, are proud to present our edition of Notre Livre, with its theme, “The Individual”. n CONTENTS Dedication.................. 4- 5 Administration and Faculty .............. 6- 19 Seniors..................... 20 - 55 Underclassmen.............. 56- 67 Activities................. 68- 81 Sports ....................... 82-101 Closing.................... 102 - 103 Advertising................ 104- 112 3 DEDICATION We, the class of 1968, are proud and pleased to dedicate our yearbook to a fine teacher and indivi- dual, Mr. Zdanewicz. Mr. Z, as he is known to most of us, has helped us in the classroom, not only as a teacher, but as an advisor, impressing upon us the importance of molding our habits now so we will be prepared to meet the challenge of the future. Mr. Zdanewicz continues to help us as Athletic Director. He has given much time and thought to planning the sports we enjoy and always demands good sportsmanship at every sports event. We sincerely hope that Mr. Zdanewicz will accept this honor with as much pleasure as it is given. (LEFT) Mr. Zdanewicz is well liked by everyone participating in sports, and especially by the boys on H.H.S. base- ball and bowling teams. (LOWER LEFT) Between classes Mr. Z talks with a fellow faculty member.(RIGHT) “You're a winner!” 5 ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY The Faculty, and each member individually, have a great effect on a student. The purpose of the faculty’s presence is to share with the students their knowledge of the subject and to prepare them to view the outside world in its true perspective. A teacher not only gives of his time in the classroom, but he is also involved in extra-curricular activities. To make these activities workable, the involvement of the students and direction of a teacher are needed. cation, the linistratiorj, anc the Faculty WTfor our future displayed years aft Hoffman High The Class of 196$ SUPERINTENDENT EUGENE S. For most of them, their goals in life are already planned. It is up to them, now, whether or not their hopes and dreams are to be realized. Our senior year has been a good one. probably, the best one of our school years. We have learned to work together and to live with each other’s faults. Working together to achieve success is a hard job and will continue to be so throughout our lives. Because of our school years this job has become a little easier. Each senior, as an individual, must learn to accept responsibility and all the trouble it entails. But in the end, as we look back on our younger days, we will be thankful for the chance to learn how to give and take. It is up to us now, to make something of our lives. We arc on our own, and each of us is responsible for the outcome. 20 wm KAREN ROBERTA APPLEGATE A constant friend is a thing rare and hard to find ACTIVITIES: Dance Committee 2,3; Student Council 3; Play Committee 4; Yearbook Staff 4; AMBITION: Operator MARGARET A. A team is made up of individuals, each with his own place, doing the best for the overall good of the squad. For a good team there must be a whole hearted attempt to work together. Each member must learn to win and lose graciously and always keep good sportsmanship as Ids principal desire in order to be a cred- it to the school, the community, and himself. STANDING: K. Somogyi had his ever-present player and records with him yesterday. He is a staunch devotee of the sound, but it was the Guvs who reacted when it counted. Turning in a solid team performance, the Governors exhibited the play that everyone expected of them against the Cards. HOFFMAN’S SIX HEROES There were six heroes for the South Amboy quintet, the five players going all the way and coach Ray Tomaszewski, calling the right moves at the right time. ST. In four short years we have shared many experiences, our class dances, the prom, the Washington Trip, and finally graduation day. As we look back now, the time seems to have flown by, but there were times when it didn’t seem to have gone fast enough. We, seniors, all individuals in our own ways, are now embarking on the beginning of our adulthood. The paths we follow will be var- ied, and the results of our work will also be different. But, no matter what the outcome, it is, to a great extent, a product of our indivi- dualism. COMPLIMENTS OF SOUTH AMBOY P.T.A.
