Sharon graduated in june from S.A. where she played French horn in the band for four years. Each of the four classes represented Lester Hill Corporation, a widely known distributor of hotel equipment and supplies. Applications were accepted for positions by Mrs. Bishop, the employer, and she appointed the students or employees to various departmental jobs. The depanmenrs consist of Sales, Warehouse, Accounting, Traffic, and included two supervisory positions. Each student received a weekly paycheck equal to their work and ability. These paychecks were then converted into a grade. The office practice students spent the first semester studying filing, office machines and other areas of business education. The title of the class, Parenthood, just about describes what took place. The tudents tried, in as many ways as possible, to experience and understand the ways of parenting. One of the first things the students iscovered was that we all act as parents every day. The experiment required the student to adopt a raw egg for a week. Csaggf mira, Steel Valley Technical School is an extension of the learning process at South Allegheny High School. These students attend South Allegheny in the morning and then spend three hours in the afternoon at Steel Valley. The course offers students a chance to find full-time employment after graduation.
