Researching Career Opportunities The Future Homemakers of America, Medical Health club, and the Distributive Educational Clubs of America fD.E.C.A.J are clubs which specialize in combining a student's education with his intended ca- reer. For example, F.H.A. is an integral part of the home economics curriculum in school. Students are given the opportunity to develop positive attitudes toward work. lt's officers are Sharon Trowell - secre- tary, and Phyllis Key - treasurer. The Medical Health club is designed to orient students to career possibilities and it YQ s-. to explore the field of medical health. ln a combined meeting with the Career Club, an Emergency Medical Technician and Mrs. Meadows, also an EMT, demonstrated how to take blood pressure and showed the stu- dents what an EMT unit looks like and how it operates. D.E.C.A. involves instruction in the areas of leadership, selling, management and human relations. Members of D.E.C.A., under the guidance of Mrs. Mar- guerite Dechau, work in the fields of inven- tory, merchandising, fashion modeling and display. With the help of Aiken merchants they had nine window displays in the stu- dent store and held a fashion show, Spring Forward on February 12.
