Elmer L. Hausman came to Souderton High School in the fall semester of 1960. Because the science suite is situated on the lirst floor, Mr. Hausman,s physics room was remote from our daily courses. With the exception of students taking physics and general science, the student body was generally unfamiliar with Mr. Hausman. Though few of us had time to know him well, his sudden death deeply saddened our senior year, and with solemn regret we dedicate this page in memory of him. Elmer L. Hausman entered Kutztown Preparatory School in 1913. He was enrolled in college preparatory courses and graduated in 1917. ln 1919, he attended Franklin and Marshall College, majoring in the field of science teaching, he re- ceived his B.S. in 1922. During the next 20 years, Mr. Hausman earned additional credits at the University of Pennsylvania, the Brooklyn School of Polytechnics, New York, and at Lehigh University, Pennsylvania. In 1942, Mr. Hausman rendered his services to the United States War Trainees Program. At Souderton High School, Mr. Hausman taught physics and general science. His students will never forget the many experiences he shared with them, which helped to broaden their knowledge and enrich their classes. Toward the end of his teaching days, Mr. Hausman was frequently taken ill. He was finally compelled to leave his work altogether, and spent his remaining days confined to bed.
