After several years of work, friendship, and learning in S. H. S., we find we have become seniors and have more dif- yearsxahead-years in which we will be faced with iijfredgkrfwworldly tasks. Our small world as lived in S. H. S. hgflopened to find us standing on the threshold of a new life problems of the universe resting on our shoulders. We ggegilize that whether there is war or peace, tyranny or free- depression or prosperity, we will be the ones conquering theflcrises in order to bring a new light to the world. ll' We are certain that our years at Souderton High will prove profitable in the long journey toward the horizon . . . 3 As we travel along the trail toward the horizon, we realize more and more that much can be learned from previous generations. History always has been and is continuing to be a very important subject. Realizing this, Mrs. Hallman has con- stantly endeavored to give the students of Souclerton High School a sound background in World History and has insisted that her pu- pils work up to their capacity. A firm discip- linarian, she has set standards which will benefit us as we face the realities of life. By doing so, she has rightly earned her reputa- We Proudly Declicate 5lle 1959 Unaliyi 50 Doris Hallman tion as one of the most capable and best-lik- ed teachers in our school. Each year Mrs. Hallman has donated her services as supervisor of the morning activi- ties on May Day. As our advisor in both the sophomore and senior years, she guided and supported our sparks of imagination into worthwhile activities which have become pleasant memories. For these and the many other contribu- tions she has made to our class in the way of time and effort, we, the class of l959, dedicate our UNALIYI to Mrs. Hallman. Congratulations and best wishes to the graduates ot l959. As a class you learned early the importance ot cooperation and team- work. Because of this, your class activities have been carried out with much success. Now you stand on the threshold of a new lite. You are ready to put into practice the many lessons you have learned and to assume the duties that await you. A democracy needs young people who are willing to work, serve, and lead. The greatest challenge of mankind today is to learn to live together in peace and understanding. It is my sincere hope that the values which you have learned at Souderton High School will be uppermost in your minds as you strive to reach your goal in life. Youth is a rich gift, use it wisely, Sincerely, Doris E. Hallman A typical homeroom scene-Mrs. Hallman chatting with the students f 3. Donna Moyer Enthusiasm and determination prompted a group of Seniors to meet with Miss Weinert in the fall of '58 to begin planning the l959 Unaliyi, We chose the American Indian as our general topic and began developing it into a theme. Considering the main objective of cur years at S. l-l. S.-preparing ourselves for the future-we decided upon Trails Toward the Horizon as our theme title. To carry this throughout the entire yearbook Shirley Frede- rick created our own little Indian. With the election of the editors in October everyone began to work in earnest to meet the first deadline. We began to realize how many problems, large and small, must be confront- ed in compiling a yearbook. The editors were Our Advisors faced with the task of making the dummy. Articles were assigned to be written, photo- graphs were taken, and pages were balanced to give a pleasing appearance. On November i2 a group of Indians pre- sented an original skit to introduce the i959 Unaliyi to the student body. At the same time an elaborate sales campaign was initiated with the business staff, under the guidance of Miss Gerhart, in charge. Work continued throughout the winter monthsg finally the entire yearbook was at the printers. Endless hours of hard work went into this publication. We hope that the happy memories of your journey along the trail will justify our strivings. Miss Gerhart, Miss Weinert EDITORIAL STAFF D. Krauss, F. C. Weinert, G. Wampole, G. Drebelbis, W. An inexperienced, but well-balanced team led by returning letterman Wil- son Kratz, they looked forward to a successful season. Although they lost the first several games, the underrated Indians showed surprising strength. The right combination just could not be found. Finally after dropping the first eleven games, the team snapped out of it with a start. They trounced Quakertown 92-82 in an amazing scoring exhibition. Shirley Frederick Peggy Clemmer I-I Our Quide 301' 5lie Huture After we finish our book learnin' days, after life's overture's through. When the trails of time guide onward our steps, are we ready for all we must do? Opportunity lies at each of our feet and knocks at every gate Challenging all who dare to climb turning from those who wait. It matters not how small or how great, how wise or wealthy we grow, For our souls are not judged by our riches and fame, but by the seed that we sow. Life is not built on a single deed, one thought, or dream gone by, But on all that we do-both seen and unseen- on truth, and not on a lie. Then let us do our works so well, leaving no task incomplete, That others as they seek to climb have paths to guide their feet. Helen Joyce Kriebel '59 HI-I3 4 1 .
