The '56-'57 Color Guard is, of course, the group to which we are referring. These girls, who carried the colors faithfully at all football and basketball games, were chosen in their junior year, and made their debut at the 1956 Commencement. twirling in time to the tom-tom beat Eight lively strutters decked in Indian attire will long be remembered for the active role they played at our athletic events. Under the direction of Judy Kulp, captain, and Miss Patricia Woomer, faculty adviser, the majorettes did a commendable job when it came time to perform in the brisk, wintry weather that accompanied our football games. They made a pleasant picture, indeed, gaily marching down the field leading the band and twirling their silvery batons. Their specialty numbers displayed at basket- ball half-time shows were the original routines of Judy Kulp, and each performance was spec- tacular. Left to right: N. Huber, S. Hunsberger, J. Landis. Consisting of forty-six members, the Chorus was one of the finest ever to perform at S.H.S. and although small in number, these voices blended with terrific volume. The selection of members was made solely by an ability test with special emphasis placed on three kev factors that help greatly in producing a good singing-organization-vocalization, sight reading, and pitch. Two highlights of the year-the annual Christmas Candlelight Service and the Spring Concert-presented in conjunction with the junior chorus and band, provided a great deal of relaxation and enjoyment for the audience. The candlelight procession by the senior and junior chorus girls, plus the traditional Hallelu- jah Chorus put the assembled persons in a reverent Christmas spirit. The soloists for this occasion were Elizabeth Clemens, Lucille Benner and Mary Jane Hagey. Much credit is due to the directress of the Chorus, Miss Ailene Nase, who has done a splendid job in developing our chorus. First Row, left to right: J. Hammerschmidt, E. Clemens, S. Hanns, M. J.
