Every year, since the first Unaliyi was pub- lished in 1940, the staff has endeavored to pre- sent a comprehensive story of life at S.H.S. Work on the '57 Unaliyi began early in the fall of 1956 with the election of our editor-in- chief, Barbara Fretz. Then, working in con- junction with the faculty advisers, Miss Weinert and Miss Gerhart, she selected the assistant editors and soon the compiling of the book went into full swing. A variety of problems confronted our new editors, but in a short time the staffs were or- ganized, Chimes of Time was chosen as the theme, and an unusual black padded cover was ordered. On November 15 one-third of the book was turned over to the publishing company and, at nearly the same time, the sales staff launched a selling campaign, hoping to sell' a record number of yearbooks. In order to meet the early deadlines, everyone took the theme, TIME, to heart, and we became fifty-one of the world's most anxious clock-watchers. However, the staff got down to work and completed the entire book by March. Since a countless number of hours were de- voted to the Unaliyi, the members felt well- rewarded for their labor by the satisfaction of turning out a book which, in the future, would bring back vivid memories to all of its readers. ,Activities Staff Left to right: C.
