Cfvm Adfory lt was rn the year of I939 that we entered for the first trme that lofty land rt rs lofty wrth 89 steps to cllmby building of Sophxa Elementary School Here we were greeted by a sweet and kmdly teacher, Mrs Wrlson She was very kmd to us that first day and we took that fust wonderful step to our educauon But watt! What ts that I hear? Ohl You might have known it rs Pat Camohan cryrng She s strll good at rt But we must get on to our second year Mrs Lewis was our teacher that year and who could have been better We learned a lot from her at least we learned enough to be promoted to the thrrd grade and that was all that mattered Our teachers rn the third grade were Mtss Wauhop and some got Mrs Lewrs back for which they were very pleased Here we advanced m our readm wnun and I'lIhI'I1Cl1C before we moved on to the fourth grade where we had lnstory and a few harder subJects Mrss Wrlllams and Mrs Roberts were the teachers Gee! Dxdn t we have fum ln Miss Wrllrams class We pamted wove belts and made pin cushions rn the shape of cats Oh l mustn t forget that this was the year the pnncrpal found that certain students in this class wrote love notes rn code Jack do you rmagme anyone dorng such a tlung We moved on where we were met or should Isay captured, by Mrs Foster and Mrs Keefer who taught the fifth grade Mrs Foster detested comrc books and chewing gurn Next comes the sxxth grade Some went back to Mrs Keefer wh1le some moved over to M155 Broyles room Remember the plays and spelling bees? Oh yes this is the part where Mrss Broyles paddled one of the boys and cned the rest of the day because she had to do it Mrs Cauley Mrs Greathouse, and Mrs Vtnes Mrs Vines had to leave us about the mrddle of the year She was replaced by a handsome black hatred gentleman named Mr Trump Before the year was over he was whxte headed Say, krdsl I guess we reformed too late Thrs brings us up to our graduatron year We only went a half day that year but we st1ll had a lot of fun The class p1cn1c was one that could not be forgotten The whole 96 of us graduated w1th the hrghest of honors and wxth some exaggeratron here we are tn hxgh school Everyone ls rn thetr own httle group We were pretty exerted and scared to death of Freshman Week We all lrved through rt though wrth few battle scars By the trme we were sophomores we notrced that several of our classmates had dropped out for drfferent reasons We became acquarnted wrth about everyone rn the school and spent most of our trme gossrprng When we got to be Iumors we though we were really grown By thls trme a few gtrls had leamed enough about football to tell that they weren t mad when they krcked the ball We enJoyed thrs year to the fullest extent and many new romances were ln bloom The Prom was our most outstandmg event of the year Thrs frnds us as dtgmfred Senrors We wrll sure rmss our dear old school days We are wrtnessmg a dream come true The burldmg of our long wmshed for gym We hope we haven t grven our teachers too hard a lrfe and we wrll contmue our works tn the future 46 O . i .
